The sheer amount of stuff you can pick up is impressive, and it's by combining them that you'll be able to make tools like axes, spears, huts, protective walls, portable stoves, little vegetable plots, etc.ĭying in Don't Starve is a clear and present danger. Most of your time is going to be spent collecting things. You'll start collecting stones and gold, and if you find a little bit of wood, you'll be able to make a 'science machine' that will give you access to new creations. These are all you need to pass the first few days pretty well, but soon you're going to start needing more. There is fruit, there are trees, flowers and rabbits. The forest is full of useful tools and items, all ready to be used. Day and night pass, as do the seasons of the year and different types of weather. Hunger is by far the most immediate challenge, as you'll constantly need to eat to make sure you don't starve. To start, you need to take care of 3 aspects: physical health, mental health, and hunger. Surviving in the forest is an absolute challenge - everything is 100% designed to challenge you and to make the survival experience a realistic one. You're still busy congratulating yourself when - WHOMP! - you're dead. It's so easy to die, so your ego really gets a boost when you manage to survive.
Don’t Starve is one of those games that really gets to you.
